“The Declaration of Independence secures our independence, Diebold secures the Declaration of Independence”

In 2003, SVW took on one of its largest and most important jobs. They were responsible for installing the new Diebold vault that would house the Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights and the Constitution. The original vault that held these documents was built in 1953 and were no longer ADA compliant. SVW brought in a team of 6 people which included owner, Tim Abell. The vault was brought in piece by piece because of the size and weight. Each panel is 10×20 feet and weighs around 20,000 pounds. SVW built a platform outside of the 5th floor window where each panel was lifted and wheeled in through. The job took roughly 7 weeks.
There is a sign on the vault that states “The Declaration of Independence secures our independence, Diebold secures the Declaration of Independence”. The vault is built to be able to withstand any terrorist attack or catastrophe that could happen. 16 years later and this is still SVW most prestigious and important job.
